Leadership Program


The CITL Leadership Program is a group of Latino students coming directly from high school that are selected each year to participate in a learning community as part of the Center for Intercultural Teaching & Learning. The Center's goal is to develop intercultural skills that contribute to effective interaction and peaceful communities, both locally and internationally for all members of the GC community. 

As a recipient, you will receive a faculty mentor, peer mentor, and bilingual enrollment counselor liaison to assure your transition to college and access to an Academic Support Center counselor.

You will also be required to participate in the Multicultural Affairs orientation prior to New Student Days.

Additional program benefits include:

  • Full tuition with $1,800 federal work study for four years excluding room and board

Qualifications

In order to qualify for participation, students must meet the criteria below:

  • Be of Hispanic/Latino heritage
  • US citizen or permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card
  • Cumulative high school grade point average of 2.75 or above
  • Complete an application by your state deadlines for federal and state financial aid (FAFSA)
  • Priority for recipients will be given to Indiana state residents. Out-of-state students are encourage to apply
  • Student entering Goshen College directly from high school

Application process

The following information must be submitted to the Goshen College Admission Office by 5 p.m. on December 15, 2008 for the priority application deadline.

All application materials must be submitted by 5 p.m. on December 15, 2008 for priority. Additional applications will be reviewed based on funding.

Expectation for renewal

This award is renewable for up to eight consecutive semesters by maintaining a 2.5 college grade point average. All award recipients are expected to complete the following:

  • Participate in all of the research projects decided upon by the CITL Research Director.
  • Participate in a minimum of one club and/or student organization
  • Meet regularly with the CITL leadership team, Mentors, and program members.
  • Participate in leadership development activities
